I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of

your letter of the 19th inst., enclosing a copy of a despatch from the "Governor of Hongkong, with an annexed extract from

Colonial Office appointed by him to investigate my claim for a piece of ground usurped by the Colonial Government

with standing my claim is
this Report is of so unsatisfactory a nature, that
I have taken the liberty of recapitulating the facts attaching to it, rather than make a few final remarks upon it.

I had stated in my Memorial that (as is evidenced by the terms of the Land Office certificate of transfer to me) Conditions had been made over to me on the usual terms as publicly made known for towns; and that on enquiry at the Land Office

was found there was no condition attaching to it.
It is replied in the Report
"We consider Mr. Webster in error regarding the conditions under which it was granted, as appears by a letter to the Governor from H. H. H. M. B. the then Governor,
